FAQ

How do I place an order?

Easily, call 609-266-0677, if we are too busy to get to the phone, please leave a detailed message. We offer free delivery in Brigantine, Monday – Saturday for personalized orders of 100 clams or more all year. Please call in advance, our clams are freshly harvested and bagged when ordered. We return all calls within 24 hours.

Or visit us at one of the farmers markets we attend on Thursday and Saturdays (seasonal).

How long will the clams last?

Since our clams are harvested to order, they will last at least one week in the refrigerator; most will last much longer.

Are your clams available all year?

Yes! A couple of days notice during the winter months may be necessary, but unless the bay is frozen, the clams are harvested fresh when we receive your order.

Do I have to clean or soak them?

Since our clams have very little or no sand in them and are very clean,  just rinse them well with cold running water and  put them in a pot!  See our Recipes for more information for cooking.

Are they sandy?

No, you will find that our clams have little or no sand in them.  That’s what makes them so delicious to eat.

Since your clams are raised in a hatchery, do you use any chemicals or antibiotics?

Absolutely not! No chemicals, antibiotics are ever added to our product.  Although, the clams are spawned inside, after 4 weeks they are outside in raceways and then by two months in the bay.

How long does it take to raise a clam before it goes to market?

It takes about three years to become a littleneck (steamer clam) and longer for topnecks and many years for chowder clams.

How many clams should I serve per person?

It depends. If you are treating your guests or family to a pot of delicious steamed clams, I know my son can eat 50 by himself!   If it’s for an appetizer and you have a full meal to follow, a dozen clams per person should be appropriate.  Same if you are cooking linguini with clams.

How do I store the clams once I take them home?

Clams are perishable and  should always be refrigerated or kept very cold in a cooler.  Do not put them in fresh water.  Do not let them freeze. They are perfectly  fine placed in a bowl in the refrigerator, uncovered until you are ready to use them.

Do you have a store where I can pick them up?

No, our clams are brought in directly from the bay, counted and sorted at a clam house.  We deliver to restaurants, seafood stores and to local customers. We attend farmers markets in Brigantine, Margate and Collingswood, NJ where you can pick up our clams to take home to prepare.   When we are not at the markets, as long as we have sufficient notice, we can make arrangements that are convenient for you. We offer free delivery in Brigantine Monday – Saturday of 100 clams or more. Please call ahead, as our clams are freshly harvested and not bagged until your order is placed. Call 609-266-0677 for more information or to place an order.  We return all calls within 24 hours.
